It is a privilege to serve as President of the Lydian Society for the 2026/27 academic year. NUL is a young institution, and with that comes a genuine opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up. This society exists to ensure that every student, regardless of background or prior exposure to finance, has access to the knowledge, networks, and experiences needed to compete for careers in the industry.

Finance can feel inaccessible, particularly for students who are encountering it seriously for the first time at university. One of our core commitments this year is to change that. We aim to make knowledge more accessible, to connect members with professionals who can offer real guidance, and to create a community where curiosity is welcomed and ambition is supported.

At the same time, the Lydian Society does not shy away from high standards. We are committed to building an environment that is both inclusive and challenging, one that reflects the rigour of working in investment banking, asset management, and other competitive areas of finance. We hold our members and ourselves to a standard that genuinely prepares people for what comes next.
